Eagle Awards

Each season we give out Eagle Awards to each girl throughout the GRG season. One girl is chosen at the end of each GRG session for portraying good character, trying her best, participating during activities and encouraging the other Girls’. This season we are so excited about our Eagle Awards, Fashion and Compassion, a wonderful local ministry, created these beautiful bracelets for us to give out as our Eagle Awards. Our prayer is that the bracelet will serve as a Reminder to each girl that she is Chosen by God and Wonderfully and Perfectly made by God.

As noted on the image attached, these bracelets were handmade by vulnerable and HIV-positive women in Uganda using small stripes of paper.  Each bracelet comes with a tag that has the name of the lady that made the bracelet, the country she is from and a short description of her situation. This is a great opportunity for us to pray for these women as well as this ministry. I can even go to the Fashion and Compassion website and see a picture of the woman who made my bracelet. This is a picture of Margaret.

Sweet Notes

Yesterday in Godly Running Girls®  we talked about prayer. With our Sweet Notes devotion we discussed  how God loves it when we talk to Him about everything in our life. There is nothing to big or to small to discuss with God. He is so good, so loving, so compassionate and He cares for you more than you can ever comprehend. So if it’s important to you, it’s important to Him. We finished up our devotion by making little prayer boxes to write and keep our sweet notes to Jesus in. We encouraged the girls to put a date on their prayers and notes and then they can go back and look at them and see how God has answered their prayers. God’s answers come in all sorts of packages, sometimes yes, sometimes no and sometimes something completely unexpected. But one thing we can always know for sure, His answer is always right on time and always perfect. So keep praying. Never give up. God is working! Hope you enjoy the devotion and the craft.

What types of things can you pray to God about? How often should we pray?

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV): And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

1Thes.5:17 (NIV): Never stop praying.

Activity: Give each girl a Prayer Box and ask her to decorate it however she would like. Encourage each girl to write a sweet note to Jesus on the stationary provided. It can be a prayer request, a praise report, a thank you note or anything else she would like to write about. Next, instruct the girl’s to write the date on their notes and then fold up the note and put them in their prayer boxes. Encourage the girls to continue to write notes to Jesus and add them to their prayer box everyday. Then at the end of the year they can go back see how God has answered prayer and remember all of the great things that God that has done throughout the year.
